Franck and Isabelle Brelivet have been running the INTER-HOTEL l'Iroko for only 8 months. A hotel full of charm located on the leisure port on the Bourget Lake, a few minutes from the centre of Aix les Bains.

Originally from Bretagne and Alsace respectively, they fell in love with the region because of it's " magic setting linking the lake and mountains. If you come to stay in Rhone Alpes, you'll meet honest people with real values." Franck Brelivet finds here " all the charm of the sea and its leisure activities, at the same time benefitting from an exceptional quality of life, thanks to the proximity of the mountains."

A fan of motorbikes, Franck Brelivet is happy totalk about the rides and hikes in the mountains, such as " the wine route of the Savoie region, or the  panoramas from the Dent du Chat and the mount Revard which finishes in the Mont Blanc chain and the lake Bourget ". Near the Col de la Colombiere , in Haute Savoie, the town of Scionzier is a major stopover of the Tour de France.

" The region Rhone Alpes is for everyone, young and less young, with family or friends, you'll enjoy the charm of the old town of Annecy, tourist capital of the  région, with its cobbled streets , and its lively atmosphere in summer."The town is famous for its lake, whose water is said to be " the purest of Europe." Walking along the bank, you'll come to Annecy-le-Vieux, with the largest granite beach of the lake and a number of watersports.

Further south, in Isere, Grenoble has a fascinating location. " At the end of every street, a mountain " as Stendhal proclaimed . The various mountain sports as well as the proximity of the ski resorts makes Grenoble a very attractive destination.

In the region of Ain, the landscapes around Oyonnax remind us of the strong agricultural tradition of this territory.

Further south the richness of the landscapes in the Ardeche, with deep gorges and canyons, as well as the climate, make this area particularly attractive. To enjoy all its natural beauty , let yourself be lulled by the rhythm of the the little train of Vivarais, nicknamed " le Mastro " : it will take you to the town of Tournon-sur-Rhone in Lamastre.

A stay in Rhone Alpes allows you to discover the history of Savoie and  Haute-Savoie. Chambery, La Roche-sur-Foron, Sevrier, Gaillard or Corenc in Isere... All towns which reflect a past based on their geographical locations: at the crossroads of the major economic axes of Europe, the romans already settled this mountain sites. Faverges (on the Annecy lake) where archeological digs have uncovered ancient thermal spas, remind us of this roman presence.

In the region of the Drome, the sites in Montelimar bear witness to the rich cultural past culturel : the chateau of Adhemar, proudly overlooks the city, and constitutes a major example of the architecture from the middle ages..
Fifty kilometers from Valence, in the area of Hauterives, don't miss the « Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval », a surreal place, symbol of naive art , where you can follow the in the footprints of the postman who, for 30 years , built this castle from stones he gathered on his rounds.

It was in Andrezieux-Boutheon, next to Saint-Etienne, where the first railway lines of Continental  Europe were built, a stop not to be missed for the architecture of the period.

Finally Lyon, where more than 500 hectares in the town centre are classed  as a world heritage site by UNESCO. Settled for more than 2,000 years, it was the captial of Gaul under the romans. Close to Lyon, digs in the town of  Corbas recently brought to light evidence of this roman occupation..
The second city of France has a number of attractions. Villefranche-sur-Saone is the economic capital of Beaujolais, but this title is often wrongly attributed to Lyon. However, Lyon has more than one string to its bow, its also the town of the « Bouchon lyonnais », which, more than just a restaurant where you can taste regional specialities like quenelles, is an authentic meeting place. They say this is where Beaujolais became famous.

Discover the cheese of Montbrison or the many specialities of Savoie to be found in the Rhone Alpes region: " the Berthoud à l'Abondance " (a kind of fondue), to be eaten with a glass of Mandeuse or Chautagne.

Foodie or mountain goat, city or nature lover, Rhone-Alpes holds all the cards to make your stay an enjoyable one. The numerous INTER-HOTELs of the region are ready to welcome you...
