You'll appreciate the diverse landscapes across the Lorraine region, from the 'meusienne' countryside to the towns of Metz and Nancy, via the Vosges mountains, there's always somewhere to visit in this beautiful region of eastern France.
Benoit Caillard has been managing the INTER-HOTEL Moderne, a handsome building just opposite the station in Metz for 20 years. Which is 20 years of devotion to his profession.
Born in Nancy, with a wife from Metz, Benoit is inexhaustible when speaking about his region."Lorraine is a land of contrasts. I like the difference in weather: cold in winter, hot in summer, and it's very green and hilly. You can hike in the forests, and it's strategically located – an hour and a half from Paris and at the junction of one of the biggest European highway intersections."

The famous American newspaper The New York Times did not make a mistake when it cited Metz as one of the 44 destinations to visit in 2009. An enviable position, partly due to the opening of the Pompidou centre, planned for 2010 (300 meters from the INTER-HOTEL Moderne).
Metz also has the wonderful cathedral Saint Etienne, 3rd highest in France – 41 meters high inside, with 6,500 meters of glass panes, the work of Marc Chagall. The museums of the 'Cour d'Or' with archeological collections, the medieval square Saint-Louis, the lakes, parks and gardens, and the dynamism of a pedestrian shopping district are added attractions.

But the Lorraine region is also the town of Nancy with its famous Stanislas square, a pedestrian area for the last few years, and recognised as a "world heritage site" by UNESCO.
Take the opportunity to visit the fine arts museum and the 'Ecole de Nancy'. Further south, in the Vosges, the towns of Vittel and Epinal are well worth a visit. The first is known for it's famous spa. Vittel is a beautiful, green town for people who love nature and fresh air.
40 kilometers away, you can visit the museums, the château and the basilic Saint Maurice in Epinal.

In Lorraine, you can practise your favorite sport: hiking, horse-riding, mountain bike or cycling, canoeing, kayaking, yachting, golf. ' Tourism on the waterways is expanding rapidly' adds Benoit Caillard. The region also has a popular theme park (Walygator, 15 kms from Metz) and a 'Snowhall' – the biggest indoor ski slope in Europe) in Amneville. If your looking for excitement, you can find it!
Although focused on the future, the Lorraine does not deny its industrial heritage. This land of contrasts will appeal to those who enjoy history, culture and nature.
